Romantic Shores & Sunset Moments

Ten days on the coast for two: a private sunset catamaran, an eighteenth-century mansion inside Galle Fort, a private whale cruise and dinners set on the sand at Mirissa.

Overview

Ten days, four places, and no rush between them

The coastal edge of Sri Lanka is a visual masterpiece designed for romance, where the warm waters of the Indian Ocean meet wide stretches of gold sand framed by swaying coconut palms. The Romantic Shores & Sunset Moments itinerary is a beautifully crafted honeymoon experience built for couples who want to celebrate their love along the island’s premier beaches.

Your journey begins along the golden resort belt of Bentota, where the wide river meets the open sea. Walking along the shoreline at dusk, the sky transforms into a dramatic canvas of deep crimson, gold, and violet, reflecting perfectly on the wet sand as the tide recedes. The air is warm and salt-sprayed, carrying the soothing rhythm of the waves.

The romantic story climbs to its natural peak as you board a private catamaran cruise at golden hour. Gliding smoothly across the blue waters away from the coast, you sit together on the open deck, sipping chilled champagne as the sun slowly sinks below the horizon, painting the clouds in brilliant shades of pink and orange. The feeling of the gentle ocean spray and the absolute privacy of the boat creates an incredible sense of shared luxury and peace.

The journey continues south to the historic town of Galle, where you step into the charming streets of the UNESCO World Heritage Dutch Fort. Staying in a restored 18th-century colonial mansion, the atmosphere feels sophisticated and timeless. Walking along the ancient stone ramparts at dusk, you watch local families flying kites against a blazing horizon, while the steady crash of waves against the coral sea wall serves as a constant acoustic backdrop.

Your final days are spent in a private beachfront resort in Mirissa, waking up to the sight of azure waters and spending your evenings enjoying fresh caught seafood at a private table set right on the sand, a beautiful conclusion to a coastal honeymoon.

Questions

About this tour

We charter the boat for the two of you, with its own crew and a catered menu. You are not sharing it with another party or working to a fixed group schedule.

Yes, at all the properties we use, though safe swimming varies with seasonal currents and the hotels flag the conditions daily. Bentota and Mirissa are both good through the November to April window.

Yes. We can coordinate a couples’ shoot in the streets of Galle Fort or on the beach at sunset, which is the better of the two for light.

This package includes a private charter option, or premium seating on a larger catamaran if you would rather. Both are quoted at the time of booking.

Smart casual is the norm at high-end restaurants in Colombo and Galle — collared shirts and trousers, or elegant resort wear. Nowhere on this itinerary requires a jacket.

Yes. Galle and Colombo both have certified dealers and your guide will point you to trusted ones. Ask for the certification paperwork before you buy anything significant.

We substitute a private lagoon safari or an extended spa treatment, and where the itinerary allows we try to move the sailing to another evening.
